Case Evaluation
Shelby Anderson is an associate attorney at Doran Justice, whose primary focus is in Family Law. She understands the importance of helping clients navigate through difficult family issues and uses her knowledge and experience to find a resolution that best fits her clients’ needs.
Shelby was born and raised in a small town in North Dakota. From the beginning, she was motivated to achieve at her highest potential, and this determination attributed to her success. She received a 4.0 GPA throughout high school and college while remaining busy with extra-curricular activities, including volleyball, basketball, track, cheerleading, band, choir, and Science Olympiad. Cognizant of the importance of client communication and understanding, Shelby earned a double major in Psychology and Sociology and a minor in Criminal Justice at the University of North Dakota. Shelby was also involved in extra-
curricular activities at the collegiate level. She was a Teaching Assistant in five different classes, was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and was honored as the Grand Marshal for the 2013 Spring Commencement. Shelby also was an athlete on the UND cheer team for both football and basketball all four years, which further solidified her teamwork mindset. Juggling all of the extra-curriculars while maintaining 4.0 GPA taught Shelby irreplaceable time management skills to ensure everything was a top priority.
Throughout her time at Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Shelby gained legal knowledge and real-world experience that has helped her become the attorney she is today. Shelby spent much of her time assisting with the development of ASU’s Sports Law and Business Program (SLB). She assisted with two professional symposiums, was a member of the Sport & Entertainment Law Journal, and was elected as the Journal’s Director of External Affairs her third year. In addition to her extracurricular successes, Shelby’s drive for success in law school remained strong and she graduated with a 3.63 GPA and ranked in the top 20% of her class. She was a Pedrick Scholar Award recipient all six semesters and earned CALI Awards for Excellence, the top grade in the class, in Sports Law and Legal Advocacy. On top of this, she also worked at two civil litigation firms, where she established a foundation of legal experience in a real-world atmosphere.
Following graduation, Shelby hit the ground running to further develop the firm’s family law practice under Attorney Doran and has immersed herself in the world of family law. She now leads the family law practice at Doran Justice, PLLC. She has experience in all areas of child custody, including the establishment, modification, and enforcement of parenting time, legal decision-making, and child support. Shelby has litigated numerous dissolution proceedings and has successfully negotiated spousal support and other divisions of property and debt. She has also successfully completed many annulment proceedings. Shelby has been awarded attorney fees for her clients on many occasions and has enforced prior judgments of attorney fees, child support arrears, as well as property divisions that occurred during the client’s dissolution. Shelby has also contested and defended numerous Protective Orders where she has a near-perfect record. Shelby is frequently able to negotiate a resolution to avoid having to go through a lengthy, expensive trial process while always keeping in mind her client’s most important goals.
In Shelby’s free time, she enjoys hiking, biking, and spending time with friends, family and her Saint Bernard puppy, Stassi.
Shelby cares about her clients and advocates for their voice to be heard. Despite the emotional nature of family law litigation, Shelby’s focus remains on the client’s ultimate goal, and she will strive to find the best resolution for her clients every step of the way.
